Created by Chicago artist and designer Michelle Metcalf of ModaMichelle, the original Scribes artwork draws inspiration from her personal experience at Howard, her time on the Yard, and her longstanding connections to the Howard community. The artwork celebrates the experiences, places, and expressions that make Howard distinctive.
More than 90 authentic Howard elements comprising over 140 words are translated by SOUNDOFF’s in-house knit design team into an intricate knitted composition. The Navy Blue blanket features White typography throughout, with distinctive Red accents highlighting HOWARD UNIVERSITY near the upper left and a large outlined HU mark near the lower right. The reverse side is blank, offering a clean finish.
