I loved making this. For spring this year, we wanted to go with some trippy psychedelic colors and themes. The designs feel like they’re almost under blacklight, and I was very inspired by Woodstock and Haight-Asbury, protest posters and album covers from the acid-induced ’60s.
For this design, I was working with the grenade being a symbol of rebirth and life, instead of death. How do you make this weapon about peace instead of war? You make it explode into a cloud of cannabis leaves, flowers, and butterflies.
At SOUNDOFF we’re leaning into the connection between spirituality and pot, as well as its connection to creativity and “the blooming of peace.” All things that are the antithesis of war.
The placement and shape of the grenadealso echo the anatomical heart. That’s what this design is really about: What is growing from your heart? If your heart is the garden of your soul, what do you sow there? Is it war? Is it peace? What is your greater intention for the world?
