The Thin White Duke. Ziggy Stardust. Bowie was the O.G. Starman; a glam rock vampire made out of starlight. An androgynous angel made flesh. In life, a magician endlessly pulling himself out of a hat. In death, he has become the patron saint of the punk.
For this design I wanted to pay homage to the inspiration of Bowie. His unreality. You just see the crimson shock of his hair, the lightning bolt, his biochrome eyes. A cobalt eye for the stars he was born from, and a dark eye fixed on the event horizon.
He’s a spirit. How do you capture a spirit in splashes of paint?
